Renowned chef Floyd Cardoz passed away at 59 due to coronavirus with tributes pouring in from around the world.
Floyd Cardoz (1960 - 2020) was an Indian-born American chef.
Born in Mumbai, he was noted for his respective ownership and executive chef tenures at the New York City eateries Poowalla and Tabla. The culinary star was the co-owner of 'Bombay Canteen', 'O Pedro' and 'Bombay Sweet Shop'.
He also competed on 'Top Chef' and won 'Top Chef Masters'.
He was the first flag-bearer of New Indian Cuisine in America, bringing dishes apart from chicken tikka masala, chaat and the regular curry. He introduced other Indian snacks and South Indian and Goan curries.
